Roofing is calculated differently than standard flat surfaces because of the slope (pitch).
What is a "Square"?
In roofing, one square is a 10' x 10' area, or **100 square feet**. Shingles are typically sold in bundles, with **3 bundles** making up exactly one square.
Pitch Multiplier:
The steeper the roof, the more surface area it covers for the same footprint. This calculator uses a slope factor multiplier to convert footprint area into actual roof surface area.
